16 Dec Homemade Chex Mix Recipe — An over 46 year Christmas Tradition at our House
My mom has been making Homemade Chex Mix for as long as I’ve been alive…that’s over 46 years. It is a Christmas tradition that we now share with our workplace and they now anxiously await the delivery of the Homemade Chex Mix. It is made with love, so maybe that’s why it tastes so good.
What you need:
2 Cups – Wheat Chex
2 Cups – Rice Chex
2 Cups – Corn Chex
2 Cups – Honey Nut Chex Mix
2 Cups – Pretzels
2 Cups – GoldFish
1lb – Mixed Nuts
1 Cup – Roasted Peanuts
8 Ounces – Butter Melted
2-4 Tablespoons – Worcestershire Sauce (to taste)
Pour Two Cups of each into Oven Safe Roaster:
- Wheat Chex
- Rice Chex
- Corn Chex
- Honey Nut Chex Mix
- Pretzels
- GoldFish
Add Nuts to Mix (Optional)
One pound of mixed nuts. We use the mixed nuts that don’t have peanuts and then add separately one cup of roasted peanuts.
Mix Melted Butter and Worcestershire Sauce together and then pour over cereal & nut mixture:
8 ounces of butter melted
2-4 Tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce (we like 4, but you can play with amount)
Heat oven to 200 degrees.
Heat oven to 200 degrees. Add all ingredients to a roaster and mix well. Make sure you coat all ingredients in the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce before placing in the oven, you don’t want a lot of liquid in the bottom of your pan. Bake for 2 hours and stir every 30 minutes. You can bake longer if needed. Let cool in roaster and then serve.
You can always substitute, leave out, or add to this recipe. Have fun and experiment to find what your family likes most.
